Meet the Dentists

OUR EXPERIENCED DENTISTS

"Dr. Scott" Folkman

Dr. Scott Folkman, a Layton native, has always been deeply connected to his hometown. After attending East Layton Elementary, Central Davis Jr. High (where he met his future wife, Kara Stevenson, in 7th grade English class), and graduating from Layton High School, he pursued a Microbiology degree at Weber State University. He went on to complete his dental training at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, specializing in pediatric dentistry at the University of Florida. He returned to his hometown of Layton in 2012 to create Legacy Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Scott is a board-certified pediatric dentist, but his commitment to children goes beyond his profession. Beyond his professional role, as a father to five children – Korbin, Davis, Griffin, Josie, Emerson – he understands the importance of connecting with every child. Dr. Scott loves traveling with his family, is a rabid Utah Jazz fan, and enjoys golf, movies, and spending time at Bear Lake. With two sons on the autism spectrum, he is dedicated to autism awareness and actively supports local schools and charities in Davis County. His goal is to make every child’s dental experience positive and enjoyable, and his sense of humor is better suited with kids, at least that’s what his wife says. For Dr. Scott, working with children is not just a job; it’s a passion that radiates warmth and care.

"Dr. Adam" Hurst

Dr. Adam Hurst grew up in Centerville, Utah, where he graduated from Viewmont High School. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Utah Valley State College and Weber State University. It was while attending Weber State that he met his wife Hollie Stevenson, a West Layton farm girl. Just a few months after they were married, they shipped off to Cleveland, Ohio, where Dr. Adam completed his dental education at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. His commitment to excellence led him to complete a rigorous 1-year residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry, preparing him for a rewarding career. Dr. Hurst has proudly served in the US Air Force Dental Corps, making a difference in locations ranging from Washington, DC, to Okinawa, Japan. He continues to serve as a reservist with the 419th Fighter Wing at Hill AFB.

After working as a general dentist for nearly 10 years in the Air Force and along the Wasatch Front, Dr. Adam decided to pursue his passion in pediatric dentistry and returned to a 2-year residency program through NYU Langone Health Centers in Yakima, Washington. Though they loved their time in Central Washington, Dr. Adam and his family are thrilled to be back home in Layton! As a board eligible pediatric dentist, Dr. Adam takes great satisfaction in helping children maintain healthy smiles and giving them fun, easy experiences in the dental office. His vast dental knowledge, dedication to learning and embarrassingly strong love of the Utah Jazz make him an excellent fit here at Legacy Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Adam and Hollie have four children – Henry, Audrey, Adelaide, and Millie. They enjoy spending time together as a family whether it’s outdoors camping, hiking or skiing, or indoors playing board games or binge watching the latest episodes of Bluey.
